This Swine Life: Pig Named Six Seven Pardoned by Miami-Dade Leader.
While perhaps not at the same level as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the Miami-Dade County mayor had her own presidential-style act this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miamiâs iconic Little Havana neighborhood.
âThis pig is innocent. Clemency is justified for her. Her criminal record is spotless,â stated the mayor in a speech with clear references to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued from the start of the commencement of a new presidential term.
âExcept perhaps for eating six or seven apples per day,â she went on. âI hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.â
This ceremony, which both honors and questions the area's customary feast of eating roast pork during the holidays, was created to replicate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.
The pig, provided by a Coral Gables firefighter, was named for the current slang trend of young people yelling âsix-sevenâ â originating from a musical verse â often for no discernable reason. The trend became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently declared âsix-sevenâ its 2025 word of the year.
A New Life
Six Seven the pig is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge âaway from grills and cookwareâ, according to the eventâs official press release.
âThis swine clemency has become one of our favorite ways to open the end-of-year celebrations,â said Eric Castellanos, in a notably cheerful message.
âIt embodies the essence of Miami: vibrant, diverse, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Each year, we are delighted to mark tradition and kindness in a way only Miami can.â
Participants enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach croquetas and Cuban coffee as they celebrated Six Sevenâs big moment.
