The President Calls Relatives of Injured National Guard Personnel to the White House

Former President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the family of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the executive mansion.

He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Incident

Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a attack on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Memorials across the state have occurred in their memory.

White House Call

The commander-in-chief explained he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” Trump informed the press. “And similarly with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Community Response

Attendees came together over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to support public safety in DC.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that teachers wished for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a positive energy that lifted people around her,” Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always willing to help others.”

Memorial details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Legal Actions and Government Adjustments

Officials have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The event caused the government to halt refugee claims and cease issuing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of the Airman

The airman, a resident of the city, started his military career in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi stated on a news show that she planned to speak to Wolfe’s family.

Impact of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a MP with distinction, according to the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had fortitude,” he informed the gathering at the service. “Though her time was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
