Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was expected for concerns to be asked about his position after another convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in 12 games, marking the club's worst streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received plenty of backing from above,” the coach remarked.

“It would be nice to change things and secure a win naturally but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard conversations we have I sense the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Player Reaction

The manager highlighted recurring weaknesses from his team in their European loss, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a period of this nature with outcomes so bad.”

He finished, “But we still have the crest on our shirts. And until it is gone, we will always fight.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to the top, show everyone again what this club is about and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
