History of Targeted Attacks
Since the beginning of the full-scale conflict in Ukraine, a number of Russian military commanders have been targeted within Moscow.
This new event follows other high-profile incidents, such as:
- General Yaroslav Moskalik was died in a automobile blast in Moscow earlier this year.
- General Igor Kirillov perished in late 2024 when a device placed on a scooter was detonated remotely.
While a informant earlier linked Kirillov's death to Ukraine's security service, such assertions are not publicly admitted as a matter of policy.
The war has increasingly seen clandestine operations extending into the center of the Russian capital.
The examination into General Sarvarov's death remains underway.
